of the miyagi miyagi. one city reported a minor injuries, taking a look at the video, you can see it caused continuous shaking in some areas. buildings in tokyo were reportedly swaying for at least several minutes. this quake did rattle nerves in a country still recovering from the devastating earthquake and tsunami in march 2011. miyagi was one one of the areas that suffered the worst of the destruction. that quake fueled, at least 60 people died and cars boats and homes were swept away. as of right now, tokyo electric power says there are no problems at any of its nuclear plants. frank michelle. >> and we understand that you have family in japan. have you been able to talk to them at all and are they okay. >> that's right. i have my parents and aunt and uncle are stationed in japan at military bases. i was able to talk to my mother. they didn't feel the quake. they're too far south but i have an aunt and uncle in tokyo. thanks to social media i was able to see that they were okay and again, like i said it's a dramatic difference from last year when i was working a newscast and wasn't able

sinkhole that goes over two lanes of traffic. this morning we have seen trucks with pg&e with the city and sanitation crews on the scene with a long day of clean- up. now, nobody was hurt but this is causing some problems for the people here. water was turned off to repair the lines last night. this happened because of the storms we had. heavy rains overflowed a creek which eroded the ground causing it to suddenly fall. this morning roads are closed but detours are in place. but if you come back live to us one more look at that sinkhole, it is going to take quite a while to come up with a solution. they need to come up with a permanent plan and at this point the road is going to have to be replaced. in lafayette, elissa harrington, cbs 5. >> thank you. >>> another sinkhole opened up yesterday. this one in the santa cruz mountains on vine hill road near the summit and highway 17. it's big as well one entire lane is gone and the remainder of the road is in jeopardy because there's nothing underneath supporting the pavement now. it's not clear how long that road will stay closed. >>> one

the lights. >> a man was shot and killed last night in oakland. marketing the city's 126 homicide of the year. e >> they continue to look for is suspects that jumped into the creek last night. the started about 1238 and the town of ross. they pulled over a suspected drunken driver. when they were giving the sobriety test to the suspect he took off 01 feet and just over a fence. he it and jumped into this creek. they were able to have visual contact with their flashlights but they try to encourage him to get out of the water and that of merely they lost contact with him. they called other agencies to come out to help the mob.them out. >> they searched until about 430 this morning looking for any signs of the suspect. they could not find anything so that suspended the search. if they come back at daybreak to continue the search. so far they do not have any informational. this is where the command post was an obviously as this case and developing we will pass on any new information that we did. right now, we are waiting for search and rescue to come out here and start searching the creek again.

afternoon in oakland. it was one the most successful gun buyback programs ever held in the city with hundreds of people dropping off their firearms. for each gun turned in, the owner received $200, no questions asked. the oakland police say that this was one of the most successful gun buyback programs ever held in the city. several hundreds of guns were turned in and many still moved by friday shooting in newtown, connecticut. >> the s f p d received a call around 3:00 a.m. this morning for reports of a home invasion robbery. this incident occurred on the 1600 block of slow boulevard. three suspects into the home and tied up the family robbing them of many belongings. the victims were not injured-that's it is unclear how many fell members live in the home and it is not clear their ages. the three suspects are being described as black male adults that were wearing masks. the s f p d is asking the public for help if they haven't any information that may be useful. >> >> it is 7:15 a.m.. let's talk about the weather. we do have wet weather outside. the rain is coming down. here is
